It is advised to strain the mixture to help prevent blockage in the self-feeder mechanism. The backrub must be submerged for a few hours to completely saturate the rub in the mixture. Then hang the backrub over the container to drain the excess off. With the use of a tap on the drum you can maintain continuous saturation without you needing to attend to it. The tap should only be opened enough to service the backrub. If the mixture is dripping onto the ground, the tap is open too much, resulting in wastage of mixture. A.C.
